| The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department has been actively preparing over the past several days for the winter storm expected to begin this evening. In anticipation of hazardous conditions, crews have readied equipment, reinforced resources, and coordinated with partner agencies to ensure the highest level of service to the community. Fire department personnel have fueled and sharpened chainsaws to prepare for potential downed trees and blocked roadways. Tire chains have been removed from storage and will be installed on apparatus as conditions deteriorate. Several four‑wheel‑drive vehicles have also been equipped with additional tools to support emergency operations during inclement weather. The department remains in constant communication with local and state officials as the storm approaches. Residents are encouraged to follow the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page and website for storm-related updates and safety information. “Our crews have been putting in the work to make sure we’re ready for whatever this storm brings,” said Chief Joey Malott. “We want the community to know that we’re prepared, we’re staffed, and we’ll respond as quickly and safely as possible. We just ask everyone to use caution, stay off the roads when the weather gets bad, and call 911 immediately if you have an emergency.” As always, in the event of an emergency, citizens should call 911. While crews will respond as safely and efficiently as possible, the department advises that response times may increase as road conditions deteriorate. The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department remains committed to protecting the community throughout the winter weather event and urges residents to stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe. |
