On Sunday, April 12th, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Monelison Fire was dispatched to establish a landing zone for a medical helicopter following an accident on the South Pedlar ATV Trail. Engine 23 responded to the area of Volley Hudson and created a secure landing zone. Engine 21 and its crew remained on standby at Station 3 to provide additional support if needed.

Amherst Fire & EMS took command at the trailhead and coordinated all efforts, including patient care. Chief 2 assisted crews in locating the patient, who was found several miles from the parking area. Big Island Fire also contributed by supporting search efforts along the trail to ensure all areas were covered in locating the patient.

Due to the extended extraction time, the patient was transported by medical helicopter in stable condition. The coordinated work by multiple agencies ensured a safe and efficient extraction from the trail.
