Monelison Fire Appreciation Dinner

On Saturday, April 18, the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department held a Membership Appreciation Dinner. The purpose of the event was to bring members and their families together and express gratitude for their service.

After the dinner, Deputy Chief Miller and Assistant Chief Bundoff recognized members for their milestone years of service. The members honored were:

Firefighter Kenny Coleman – 5 years
Firefighter Andy Esterline – 5 years
Firefighter Jeff Hilty – 5 years
Associate Member Kacie Maddox – 5 years
Deputy Chief Kalab Miller – 5 years

Firefighter Mark Davis – 20 years
Associate Member Keith Kirkland – 20 years

Captain Shannon Daniel – 25 years

The ceremony concluded with a special recognition. In July 2025, the department lost Assistant Chief Mack Mays. Chief Mays was honored for his 15 years of service. His longtime girlfriend Linda was present to accept his award.

The event was made possible by the support of generous sponsors. The department extends its gratitude to Dominion Energy, Shipley Do-Nuts, Fleming Mountain Grill, Home Depot, Gary’s Garden Center, Bloom by Doyle’s, and the Amherst County Chamber of Commerce.
