Single Vehicle Accident Versus Pole |

| At approximately 1:30 AM, Amherst County Dispatch received an automated alert about a severe crash on South Amherst Highway, reported via iPhone. Dispatch attempted to contact the provided number, but there was no response. The Amherst County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and found a single overturned vehicle that had struck a utility pole. There were no occupants or driver present at the vehicle. Monelison Volunteer Fire Department Squad 21, Engine 23, and Drone 21 responded to the incident, along with Amherst Fire & EMS Medic 2-4 and Chief 800. Upon arrival, crews searched the area for any occupants using the drone, but no one was located. Appalachian Power (AEP) was notified due to the damaged utility pole and a resulting power outage in the area. The driver was located later and declined EMS assistance. All responding units cleared the scene at 3:17 AM. |
