Amherst, VA — At approximately 5:29 PM on November 7, 2025, the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for mutual aid to assist Amherst Fire on Boxwood Farm Road in response to a fully involved structure fire in Amherst's first due area.

Upon arrival, Amherst Fire and EMS Unit 806 reported heavy fire showing from all sides of the residential structure, with flames breaching through the roof. Monelison units Tanker 21 (T21) and Engine 23 (E23) responded promptly to the scene.

Tanker 21 was tasked with supplying water to Amherst Fire Engine 11, while Engine 23 was directed to Industrial Road to establish a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Despite the coordinated efforts of all responding units, the residential structure was declared a total loss.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Monelison Volunteer Fire Department commends the swift and professional response of all personnel involved and remains committed to supporting neighboring departments in times of emergency.
