November 8, 2025, 15:02 - The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched this afternoon to a reported vehicle fire on Mountainview Drive. Squad 21 arrived on scene to find an SUV with visible flames emerging from underneath the vehicle.

As firefighters initiated suppression efforts, the vehicle’s gas tank ruptured, causing gasoline to ignite and intensify the blaze. Crews acted swiftly, utilizing a combination of ABC fire extinguishers and firefighting foam to bring the fire under control.

To mitigate environmental impact, a containment boom was deployed around the leaking fuel tank to prevent runoff and protect nearby soil and water sources.

Thanks to the rapid and coordinated response of Monelison firefighters, the fire was extinguished without injury or further hazard. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
