| The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind all motorists of the importance of yielding properly to emergency vehicles displaying flashing red, white, and blue lights.
When an emergency vehicle approaches, drivers are required by law to **safely pull over to the right side of the roadway** and allow the vehicle to pass. Recently, there have been several close calls involving emergency responders due to improper yielding.
Drivers should **not stop in the middle of the road** in the same lane of travel as the emergency vehicle, nor should they **pull to the left in front of the responding vehicle**. These actions create dangerous situations that can delay emergency response and put lives at risk.
Proper yielding ensures that firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement can reach emergencies quickly and safely. Your cooperation can make the difference in saving lives. |
