Telecommunications Week

By Monelison Volunteer Fire Department
April 17, 2026

Public safety dispatchers handle approximately 240 million 911 calls annually. Each call requires specialized knowledge and a calm, collected response, including millions of calls related to traffic crashes.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is observed every year during the second week of April to honor telecommunications personnel in the public safety community. This week recognizes their dedication and commitment to serving the public.

This year’s observance began on April 12 and continues through April 18.

Amherst County Dispatchers are recognized for their essential work. We are proud and thankful for all they do! They are the first and last voice heard during every single call.
