| Monroe, VA – February 23, 2025 – The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the 1800 block of High Peak Road at 12:48 PM today. The incident began as a controlled burn by a homeowner, which quickly spread to a nearby field.
Attack 21, Brush 21, Tanker 21, and Chief 2 responded to the scene. The fire was contained and extinguished, but not before it had burned approximately one acre of land.
We would like to remind all citizens that there is currently a burn ban in effect. All open-air burns are illegal before 4:00 PM. The combination of dry ground and low humidity creates ideal conditions for fires to spread rapidly and become uncontrollable. |
