Madison Heights, VA – The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant of $1,500 from Columbia Gas, administered through the NiSource Charitable Foundation. This grant will be used to offset the cost of a new MSA Altair 5x Gas Monitor for the department's new Squad truck.
The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department continually seeks outside funding sources to supplement the cost of new equipment essential for the safety and effectiveness of its operations. This year, the department submitted a grant request to the NiSource Charitable Foundation, which oversees the grant program for Columbia Gas. The awarded funds will be directed towards the purchase of the MSA Altair 5x Gas Monitor, a critical tool that will enable firefighters to monitor air quality for toxic gases such as Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Hydrogen Cyanide, and explosive limits.
"We are incredibly grateful for this award from Columbia Gas," said Joey Malott, Fire Chief of Monelison Volunteer Fire Department. "This life-saving gas monitor will allow our firefighters to continually monitor air quality and ensure the safety of both our team and the community we serve. Having the best tools available is essential for effective firefighting and emergency response."
The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department is committed to providing the highest level of service to the Madison Heights community. The addition of the MSA Altair 5x Gas Monitor will enhance the department's capabilities and ensure that firefighters are equipped with the necessary tools to protect residents from hazardous conditions.
