| The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department recently conducted a hands-on demonstration of its newly acquired quick-connect hydrant device, the **Hy-Conn**, designed to dramatically improve response times during fire emergencies.
The Hy-Conn is a cutting-edge appliance that allows firefighters to connect large diameter hose (LDH) to a fire hydrant in seconds. With a simple push onto the hydrant threads and a quarter-turn to the right, the device locks securely in place—eliminating the need for time-consuming manual threading.
“This tool is a game-changer for our department,” said Monelison Engineer N. Moore. “It’s fast, efficient, and helps us get water flowing to the scene much quicker.”
To further test the capabilities of the Hy-Conn, firefighters used the **deck gun** on the department’s newly acquired **Squad truck** to measure water flow performance. The team evaluated how different nozzle tip sizes affected **Gallons Per Minute (GPM)** and stream distance, gaining valuable insights into optimizing water delivery during fire suppression efforts.
The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department continues to invest in innovative tools and training to better serve the community and enhance emergency response capabilities. |
