| At approximately 8:26 a.m. this morning, the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Red Roof Inn. Upon arrival, Chief 2 observed visible fire and smoke on the Alpha/Delta side of the building.
Chief 2, along with firefighters from Amherst Fire and EMS, made entry with a water can and successfully extinguished a dryer that was on fire. Amherst Fire Department Truck 1 responded to the scene and laddered the roof to check for any fire extension through the dryer vent. Engine 21 provided ventilation, while Engine 23 stood by at the hydrant to ensure water supply readiness.
The fire was contained to the dryer unit, and there was no extension beyond the appliance. No injuries were reported, and the quick response prevented further damage to the property. |
